Invasive Species Scavenger Hunt

August 1 - 31, 2022

Event Description

This August, join the Pennsylvania iMapInvasives Program for its third annual "Invasive Species Scavenger Hunt". This statewide event encourages natural resource professionals and community scientists to search for and report their findings of a limited number of invasive species during the month of August. Several species on this year's checklist are considered early detection or high priority species. Participants should request an iMapInvasives login account for purposes of recording their presence and not-detected findings.

The goal of the Scavenger Hunt is to equip environmental professionals and the general public with knowledge of the locations impacted by early detection and high priority plants and animals across the Commonwealth. This information serves as a critical tool for prioritizing areas to begin or continue management efforts in. Action taken by treating impacted areas will lead to strengthened and healthier ecosystems across the Commonwealth and allow more opportunities for people of all ages to engage in outdoor recreation.

Prizes will be awarded to five lucky participants of this event.

To participate, watch a recorded webinar from July 28, 2022 hosted by the PA iMapInvasives Program, AND carefully review information provided in the "Homework" section of the following ArcGIS StoryMap.

There is no cost to participate. Questions related to this event should be directed to the Pennsylvania iMapInvasives administrator.
