Identify and Report Spotted Lanternfly and Tree-of-Heaven

June - November, 2022

Event Description

This year, the Pennsylvania iMapInvasives Program is hosting a new and unique volunteer survey event with a focus on identifying and reporting spotted lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula) and tree-of-heaven (Ailanthus altissima). Because of the continued and important efforts to find new infestations of spotted lanternfly in Pennsylvania along with its favored host plant (tree-of-heaven), this event seeks to increase the number of people conducting these searches at a statewide scale.

Join others from across the state in claiming one or more areas from an online, interactive map and conduct your searches for these two invasive species during the summer and fall of 2022. Presence and not-detected findings will be reported by participants to iMapInvasives and/or the Penn State Extension's online SLF reporting tool.

Prizes will be awarded to five lucky participants of this event.

To participate, watch a recorded webinar from June 2, 2022 hosted by the PA iMapInvasives Program. When finished, claim one or more areas to conduct your on-the-ground surveys at.

There is no cost to participate. Questions related to this event should be directed to the Pennsylvania iMapInvasives administrator.
